A sport for your brain.

Mathletes is a competitive mathematics program where students challenge themselves with problems that go beyond the classroom. Think of it as a sport for your brain — with individual events, team competitions, and the thrill of solving problems under pressure.

It's not about memorizing formulas — it's about creative thinking, pattern recognition, and the satisfaction of cracking a tough problem. Whether you love puzzles or want to strengthen your math skills, Mathletes makes math genuinely exciting.

Students learn to love the challenge.

Math used to be just homework. Now it's my favorite puzzle to solve with friends. Getting stuck is just part of the process.
— Ryan, 7th Grade Mathlete

From practice to podium.

Every mathlete follows the same path — from weekly practice to competition day. Here's what the experience looks like.

Learn Problem-Solving

Master creative approaches to math problems that go beyond textbook methods. Discover elegant solutions.

Practice Weekly

Work through challenging problems with teammates and coaches, building speed and accuracy over time.

Compete as a Team

Collaborate with teammates in relay rounds and team challenges where every member contributes.

Earn Recognition

Compete for individual and team awards at regional and national-level competitions.

How competitions work.

From sprint rounds to countdown brackets, here's what to expect at a typical competition.

Half to full day 4 rounds Team of 4
  1. Sprint Round

Individual challenge: 30 problems in 40 minutes testing accuracy and speed across all math topics. No calculator allowed.

  2. Target Round

Pairs of challenging problems with 6 minutes each. Focus on deep problem-solving and mathematical reasoning over raw speed.

  3. Team Round

Work together with your team of 4 to solve 10 problems in 20 minutes. Communication and collaboration are key.

  4. Countdown Round

Head-to-head bracket tournament for top scorers. First to buzz in with the correct answer advances. The crowd favorite.
